Why Does Michael Goldfarb (and By Association, John McCain) Hate Dunegons and Dragons?

Who is Michael Goldfarb and what happened to him in his youth that makes him hate Dungeons and Dragons SO much?

From John McCain's official site:

"But in their new role as bloggers, the [NYT] paper's editors seem to have all the intelligence and reason of the average Daily Kos diarist sitting at home in his mother's basement and ranting into the ether between games of dungeons and dragons."

"It may be typical of the pro-Obama Dungeons & Dragons crowd to disparage a fellow countryman's memory of war from the comfort of mom's basement, but most Americans have the humility and gratitude to respect and learn from the memories of men who suffered on behalf of others."

That's two slams within the month of August 2008 that people who disagree with John McCain are themselves hateful D&D players.  Can someone form a PAC called "RPG for Obama"?  Maybe they can get funding from Soros.

Until a few months ago, I thought McCain was a good guy and a decent candidate, and I have surely never once disparaged his memory of war or his genuine high cost of service to our country.  And I am a highly active web surfer but don't believe I have ever been to the Daily Kos site, much less blogged from it.  But if his campaign is formally against D&D then this circa-1980 graph paper dungeonmaster is considering unleashing a hellish orc and dragon attack (simply because I can't recall any really cool monster names right now without cheating).  Oh, how I wish I still had my original hardbound monster manual instead of the 2 garagefuls of stuff I actually have.

This makes me wish I was still in touch with the people who tried to find the treasures.  Also, we played in the living room more often than the basement; it got too cold down there.  And now I don't even have a basement.

Michael, my man, what's wrong?  What happened in YOUR basement?  So angry...
